Statement on Proposed Appointees to NCInnovation’s Board of Directors

Durham, NC – The North Carolina General Assembly yesterday released its proposed list of legislative appointees to NCInnovation’s Board of Directors.

Kelly King, Chair of NCInnovation’s Board of Directors, said, “I look forward to welcoming the General Assembly’s appointees to NCInnovation. Our exceptional team is excited for the future as we work to translate university research into economic output.”

King continued, “I’ve chaired many boards over the past four decades. I’m excited about the General Assembly’s proposed slate because, in my experience, an active and engaged board makes for a better organization. In reviewing this list, I think that’s exactly what we’ll have.”

NCInnovation will onboard and orient the new Board of Directors, and continue working to operationalize the various requirements issued by the legislature.

A comprehensive review of North Carolina’s research commercialization portfolio is currently underway.

Earlier this month, the day after the budget became law, NCInnovation announced four Regional Innovation Network Directors who will implement key tenets of the organization’s research commercialization model.
